Sometimes I have these thoughts that I wanna express.Tumblr (3.0; @howtobvalles)http://howtobvalles.tumblr.com/<p>A few moments ago I received the conversation shown below via picture message on my phone. This was sent to me by a guy who I had plans to go out with tomorrow afternoon, that is until I told him that I was HIV+. He then proceeded to tell me he was not interested in dating me, this afternoon I received this conversation from him. He and one of his friends were poking fun at my HIV status and alleging that I was going to die. Let me make a few things clear: 1) I am HIV+, I do NOT have AIDS, I have one of the best doctors in Los Angeles taking very good care of me; 2) being HIV+ is not a death sentence and I do not plan on dying anytime soon; 3) people, such as this guy and his friend, still exist and carry around with them a big bag of ignorance and like to spread it around; 4) I decided to post this because it is time my friends realize that the stigma those of us with HIV have to deal with is far too great to go it alone. I rely on the support of my closest friends and my amazing family to keep me strong and remind me that my status does not define who I am or what I can achieve. When there is a stigma out there people are more reluctant to tell their partners their status.
